El Adem
Friday, 22 January 2010 13:10
Thank you for forwarding your latest catalogue. I find them most interesting and most descriptive. I was particularly amused to read about your mention of Tobruk in the Desert Boots caption as I spent two years in the RAF at El Adem Some 18 miles into the desert from Tobruk. El Adem means “the end” and never was a place more aptly named. The Desert Boots or Bondoo Boots as they would have been known as, would have been very useful in those days. Dave Evans Neath
Monocles

I take a selection of eyewear to sea with me: my trusty Ray-Bans for the glare, my reading spectacles for the charts, but I’m never without my Peter Christian Monocle or Quizzing Glass. The perfect tool for spotting an Isle of Wight ferry to the starboard bow, a bikini-clad lovely in the harbour... or the gangplank after one too many duty free gins! As much at home on the ocean wave or in the yacht club. Ahoy!
